Ellusory Passages

Postby Windy on Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:06 am

Fragile as thought
we pass, briefly,
through time and space,
grasping at things
that can't be held, and
though each is different,
we hold to each other
in our oneness.
We yearn
for the physical,
cling to it
in our desperation,
to validate,
to not be alone,
and we search
outside ourselves
for something more.

There is no reality except the one contained within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself.
--Hermann Hesse

Your poem seems to address Hesse’s statement. I suppose your treatment is apt, but can’t help wonder how this might be addressed in a less (elusory, allusory, or illusory) way.

often we don't realise happiness can be within, in our own selves. hence the search outside, mm?? there might come a point when nothing outside is enough to satiate us n gradually we search within us and we find the real happiness. being happy with our aloneness, not loneliness..
i found your thought a very authentic route to find the self within.

I was like this for a long time in my life. I didn't know any better, it is a side effect of a low self esteem. And a low self esteem is the effect of other serious things some people experience as they grow. It may seem like an easy thing to figure out but it isn't for some people. I saw this poem before, the more I read it the more I like it. Thank you for sharing.
