Skewed

Tougher critique without any charring.

Skewed

What do you do
when your heart and mind tell you one thing
and everyone around you
tells you something else?

When you're told
that your memories are a lie
and the hurt inside
is just another symptom of your personal neurosis?

The insults, the bruises
the pain,
they didn't happen as you recollect . . .
Did they really happen at all?

The mind is a peculiar thing;
it plays tricks on us;
and families ---- ?
They are more peculiar still.

But x-rays
don't lie
and scars are not created
out of imagination.

windy, i don't know how i missed out this poem posted by you...
people often run about for the precision of words, thus emotion often taking the back seat … I often felt sensitivity has to take a step forward to reveal the soul of the poem….
I sense the feel of your poem…
I loved it..

Your poem

You really ran with your emotions on this one. The poem sounds personal and deeply rooted as so. I've always found that writing can be deeply therapeutic and healing...and how can you put a price/attach a worth to that?
