Standing in front of a tank
You wonder if you’d have that courage,
Seeing the iconic image
Twenty years ago in Tianamen Square.
In your own student days
You did stand in front of tanks,
Not alone, alongside many.
Tanks named racism, sexism, still,
They weren’t really halted.
In the intervening space
Of years, yes, the tanks have slowed,
But they have not rusted away.
