Standing in front of a tank

Standing in front of a tank

You wonder if you’d have that courage,
Seeing the iconic image
Twenty years ago in Tianamen Square.
In your own student days
You did stand in front of tanks,
Not alone, alongside many.
Tanks named racism, sexism, still,
They weren’t really halted.
In the intervening space
Of years, yes, the tanks have slowed,
But they have not rusted away.

Welcome and thanks for jumping in and posting right away. I have read many Tiananmen poems of late, due to it being in the news. Everyone has a little different twist that makes it apply to their own lives.

I read so many forums that I don't remember where they are, but I think Chris George had one here on on The Writers Block. Many of the forums prune regularly, so you will have to check around before the are gone.
