So, I'm on the DA the other day, when this strange fellow whom I remember seeing around upon another forum I frequent (as you may well see, I am, perhaps, online more than is good for me), has not only paid me a very nice compliment, but also asked me to take a look at this fair forum, and indeed, to join. What could I say? It is an honor, and I cannot say no to good poetry.
Like apples of gold in baskets of silver, is the right words at the right time, truly.

So, to myself. I call myself Cogidubnus, after Cogidubnus of eld, ancient British king. I write poetry. I will be forthright, and say that I have a distaste for most modern poetry, and indeed, have been told that my poetry smacks of John Donne and the like - certainly not in quality, but in speech. I tend to rhyme, I try to have meter, and Grace Hazard Conkling is the most modern poet that I like, that I know of or can recall.

I look forward to reading the poetry here, and getting to know you all, and I hope perhaps even submit a thing or two. It is truly a pleasure to meet you all.

Yay! I actually got someone to join! :))):

*ahem*

Glad you could make it, Cog. I think you'll like it here. While we have no shortage of modern-type poets (such as myself), we also have plenty who dabble in the arcane arts of regular meter and form. This is, above all, an inclusive sort of place.

Now, normally on a forum when a new member joins, the admin tells them to read the rules, but we don't have any! So have fun.

Greetings to you, Cogidubnus. We will endeavour to double and bubble all toils and troubles that you might call forth in your arcane pursuits.

For anything you don't like, blame Cameron.

Wouldn't have it any other way. :3

Glad to be here, sir. Thank you again for inviting me. And I'm glad to hear I'm not the only fossil here, then. *laughs*

Welcome Cog,

I am new as well but all ready am quite enjoying the place!!

I am a dabbler in formal verse ( free verse scares me, not as many rules, I need structure or I go all over the place-smile! :argh! )

Nice to see you here!!
