Favorite Artist Gallery: Minerva Teichert

Postby Cameron on Tue Jul 08, 2008 6:52 pm

I'm very fond of the style of Minerva Teichert, a fairly obscure early 20th century American artist who painted primarily religious and western subjects, most of them in the living room of her not-very-spacious house. Thinking about how her art is relatively unknown was what gave me the idea to do this--a series of galleries of artists, both well-known and not, containing a wider variety of their work than you usually see. I've been having fun scrounging around the Internet for this one. Soon to follow in the series: J. M. W. Turner and Alberto Giacometti! The funny thing is, a lot of these people I'll be digging up are quite famous, yet we only usually see one or two very famous paintings, when they painted tons of great stuff.
