A little haiku verse

Postby Abilene on Tue Jul 07, 2009 6:09 am

I know most forms of haiku traditionally hold verses that
depict rice paddy fields and zen gardens, as the world is drawn in
around such beauty. But I decided to see what I could do with the Desert West.

The desert prairie at night

The desert prairie falls silent under a full moon
A tailwind picks up
Sage leaves fall across the nights sky
A field mouse sprints out of it's hiding place

You should get some books on haiku and read them, a wonderful form and extremely varied in subject matter. Anyway, yours would be more haiku if you did this:

The desert prairie
A tailwind under full moon
A field mouse sprints out

You can have lots of fun writing these.
